Local Government Elections

The next Local Government Elections will take place in 2028.

The most recent Local Government elections were held on Saturday, 14 September 2024.

The 2024 Local Government elections were conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission.

Enrolment Details

You can click the button below to check your enrolment details, update your details, or enrol for the first time.

Non-Resident Elector Roll

You are eligible to vote as a non-resident in a ward or council area if you are:

  • an owner of rateable land in the ward or council area 

  • an occupier or rate-paying lessee of rateable land in the ward or council area.

  • Links to forms will be provided in the lead up to a local government election.

Voting Options

It is compulsory to vote in local government elections in Australia.

You cannot vote in person outside of New South Wales for local government elections. If you will be interstate on election day you can vote at a pre-poll centre before you leave during the early voting period or by postal vote.

Pre-poll centre locations are published closer to each local government election.
