Draft Brookong Creek Master Plan

Lockhart Shire Council has partnered with Habitat Planning and Yonder Landscapes to design a Master Plan for a section of the Brookong Creek in Lockhart.

The purpose of the master plan is to:

  • Facilitate community led design outcomes and develop a coherent vision to develop Brookong Creek over the next ten years.
  • Form the basis for Council to sequence and prioritise the works within the master plan; and
  • Consider future budgeting and funding options.

In March 2023 Council appointed the Tourism and Economic Development Steering Committee (TEDSC) to be the lead project team along with Council staff and Consultants.

So far, the group has consulted with stakeholder groups and community members throughout the development of the master plan, including:

  • Crown Lands
  • Wiradjuri representatives
  • Lockhart Progress Association
  • Lockhart Lions Club
  • Lockhart Red Cross
  • Lockhart Central School Students
  • St Joseph’s Primary School Students
  • Residents who live or own property close to the scoped area.

Their input has been gathered via face-to-face meetings as well as an online survey which received 115 responses.  The feedback has helped to guide the development of the Draft Master Plan.

In November, the TEDSC recommended that Council place the Draft Master Plan on Public Exhibition which Council resolved to do for 8 weeks from 21 November 2023 to 15 January 2024.

The Draft Master Plan can be viewed on Council’s website or in person at Council’s administration building at 65 Green Street Lockhart. Feedback can be provided via an online survey or by emailing mail@lockhart.nsw.gov.au.
